A 20-minute senior savings conversation

Goal: choose one appealing opportunity, check the requirements, and decide on a next step.

Preparation: open or print the free worksheet at free-side-of-55.pages.dev/savings-starter/. Have pens and one current provider page available. For an offline group, the facilitator can check the source in advance and note the date. No participant needs to buy anything.

1. Choose something enjoyable · 5 minutes

Ask: “What would you like to do, learn, or make room for this month?” Participation and sharing are optional. Keep the focus on interests rather than anyone’s finances.

2. Check an offer together · 10 minutes

Choose one example from the worksheet or free guides. Read the provider’s current terms. Have each person write:

3. Finish with one action · 5 minutes

Ask: “Is this something you wanted anyway? What could you check next?” A useful answer might be to call a provider, compare two prices, or decide that an offer is not a good fit. Nobody needs to commit during the session.

Facilitator note: never collect participants’ income, identification, medical, or insurance details. Let the official provider handle any private application. This is an educational discussion, not individual benefits advice.
